About ... Dancing in the Street
During the summer of 2010, The School of Dance will be quite literally dancing in the streets. Dancers and musicians from The School will create more than 100 “dance happenings” all over the City of Ottawa - on major city streets, at the National Gallery of Canada, in the Byward Market area and at local parks, community centres and malls. Look for the bright yellow T-shirts!
Some of the projects are mini-performances where the audience can enjoy dancers dancing. Other projects are participatory and eveyone will be encouraged to join in and dance. Lively drummers and music will accompany each event. Animation is bilingual.
Organizations that would like to be part of The School of Dance project and would like a performance or workshop in their neighbourhood during the summer of 2010, should simply call 613-238-7838 and say “I want to be part of Dancing in the Street!” All performances are free of charge.

À propos de… La danse dans la rue
Tout au long de la saison estivale 2010, The School of Dance transformera les rues et les espaces urbains d’Ottawa en piste de danse avec un nouveau projet de rayonnement communautaire, La danse dans la rue. Des danseurs et des musiciens de l’école créeront plus de 100 « happenings » de danse partout à Ottawa, notamment sur la rue Sparks, au Musée des beaux-arts du Canada et au Marché By, ainsi que dans des parcs variés, des centres communautaires et des centres d’achats.
Certains de ces événements prendront la forme de mini-spectacles que le public pourra apprécier. D’autres encore offriront au public l’occasion d’entrer dans la danse. Des percussionnistes et autres musiciens dynamiques seront également de la partie. L’animation de ces événements sera bilingue.
Toute organisation souhaitant participer à ce projet en invitant la troupe à faire un spectacle ou à donner un atelier dans son voisinage durant l’été 2010 n’a qu’à composer le 613-238-7838 et dire « Je voudrais faire partie de La danse dans la rue »!
