“This is an important step in the evolution of The School,” says Merrilee Hodgins, Artistic Director. “The School of Dance is committed to providing contemporary dance students with excellent courses taught by exceptional teachers.” The three year diploma programme consists of 2,722.5 hours of classes in contemporary dance/ballet/interpretation/composition/choreography/anatomy/history as well as other related topics and subjects. Students will be guided, supported and challenged as they develop the skills necessary to launch their professional dance careers. “Discoveries and experimentations in this new venture will lead the way to cutting-edge opportunities in the field of contemporary dance,” adds Sylvie Desrosiers, Director of Contemporary Dance Studies at The School of Dance.

On September 18 2006, the new Private Career Colleges Act, 2005 (PCCA) was proclaimed in Ontario. The primary goals of the new Act are to protect students, improve the quality of the courses offered, and ensure the accountability of all institutions that make up the PCC sector.
