Neera Huckvale
Neera Huckvale
Artist-in-Residence
Neera started studying art in 1980s at the Ottawa School of Art. She is particularly thrilled to be associated with The School of Dance as she says, "dance was her first love." The same kinetic energy that informs dance informs her work. She works in a range of mediums, but in the last few years has focused on textiles. Her scarves, quilts, wall-hangings are inspired by colours, textures, sculptural form and her Indian heritage. She uses unusual shapes of scraps of silk, old lace, buttons, beads and ribbon to meld the old with the new.
